Today, a friend of mine called me on the phone, and asked me if I wanted to join him to go to the car auction in Al Aweer, Dubai.
After he got my positive reply, we went to the place.
The place was full of car shops, which included exclusive tuned cars, high class, mid class, low-level and used cars.
The auction area was full of cars:
Here comes the old Dubai police car. It is absolutely smashed, and I doubt someone is gonna buy this:
These are the Dubai Taxi cars. Probably used out and depreciated cars:
I wonder who will buy this one. One of the requirements for the auction is to pay the deposit of 3000 AED (about 822 USD), which is refundable if you don’t buy any car. Anyways, this car was also in there. I have no idea what was the starting price for this one.
People are waiting for auction to start. It was planned to start at 19:00 Dubai time (GMT +4):
All the cars had this paper sticked on the to windows, providing people with the test results of each car:
This looked very nice, however when I read the test results, it came out that, the car was pretty smashed already.
When looking around, I spotted this Mini-Cooper. Thought, wow, amazing! But no way! Nothing is without surprise!
Close look at the test result paper indicated that it had problems with the roof. It was not working at all. One of the windows of the car is not working either. Drive-test of the car was not carried out due to the reason that it had problems with the roof…
And at about 19:40 the auction started. This car was the lot number 5.
Here comes the videos from that auction:
The main problem was to understand what the guy was talking about. Most of the time he was speaking Arabic. But even his English was absolutely difficult to understand.
After 5 lots, we decided to leave the place:
- we didn’t understand what the guy was talkin about;
- it was too hot and humid.
My conclusion from the visit:
- Do not buy a car from the auction! Chances that you get the crap is very high.;
- Sell your car in the auction! Chances that you sell it at a higher price is real.
